Grace Kelly wants to play “anything I can get my ears on.” At 16, she has composed and recorded award-winning songs and performed with the likes of Frank Morgan, James Cotton, Billy Hart, Maurice Brown, Ronnie Mathews, and Ray Drummond. She was featured soloist at the Jazz Standard with Frank Morgan, Billy Hart, George Cables, and Curtis Lundy. Invited to play with Lee Konitz at Birdland on many occasions, she recorded her latest CD, “GRACEfulLEE” with him. Judged top woodwind soloist and vocal alto soloist at the 2007 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, the Massachusetts native will leave high school a year early to attend the Berklee School of Music on a full-tuition scholarship. Recipient of numerous awards for jazz composition, songwriting, arrangement, jazz and pop/rock/blues instrumentalist, Grace began studying piano at eight, later adding saxophone, composition, arranging, and voice lessons. She has played in school big bands and has her own quartet and quintet. |
