Drummer Keith Hall currently tours the world playing concerts and at festivals, and making television and radio appearances with singer/saxophonist Curtis Stigers. Keith spent eight years in New York City and played drums in Broadway's “The Lion King” for three of those years. While there, he served as music director at Manhattan’s Faith Exchange Fellowship. He has performed with Marcus Belgrave, Betty Carter, Sir Roland Hanna, John Hicks, David Kikoski, Wynton Marsalis, Michael Phillip Mossman, Claudio Roditi, Hilton Ruiz, Terrell Stafford, Joe Wilder and Steve Wilson. With the US State Department recently, Keith toured Eastern Europe with the Latin-jazz quartet “Grupo Yanqui” and has appeared on many recordings that include Curtis Stigers, Mind’s Eye, Jeff Haas, and his own projects - The Groov’tet, Skyline and Tri-Fi. He earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University and Queens College in New York and has taught at New York University. He has led clinics and taught master classes around the world as an endorser for Regal Tip drumsticks, Taye drums, Istanbul Agop cymbals, Attack drumheads and Protection Racket drum cases. According to JazzPolice.com, Keith “has the chops and fuel to hit the afterburner zone.” Modern Drummer Magazine says, “Hall has a nimble, grooving, and “melodic touch.” Keith now lives in Michigan where he teaches at Western Michigan University and directs the band at Christian Life Center in Kalamazoo. Keith will play with Curtis Stigers at Jazz at Vail Square on July 31st. |
